Fort Lauderdale Criminal Appeals Lawyer

Florida State and Federal Appeals Attorney

Facing a criminal appeal is not that much different than facing the initial criminal defense: you still need a lawyer who knows the law, will fight hard for you, and who genuinely cares about you and your family.

I am a Fort Lauderdale and Southern Florida attorney who knows the law and cares for my clients. After working for more than two years in the public defender's office, I opened The Law Office of Kristina Duhaney to help people like you get the results you need.

Time is of the Essence

When facing an appeal from a criminal conviction, time is of the essence. Generally, you have to mount your appeal defense, either:

  • 30 days from the date you received final orders
  • 30 days from the date you entered your plea
  • 30 days from the date of receiving a guilty verdict

When you hire me, I will investigate whether you have appellate grounds for post-conviction relief. I generally order the transcripts of the hearing or trial, and I research these materials for any grounds to appeal to the higher court. If grounds for appeal exist, I file the brief to the appellate court and represent you through the entire process.

I know your troubles are the same on appeal as they were at the initial trial. You don't want to go to jail, face fines or have your record tarnished. I work for my appellate clients the same way. I route all my office calls to my cell phone, to ensure that I am available to you as often as possible throughout your appeal process. This way you are never left wondering about the status of your appeal, and you are always assured that I am on the case.

I also offer free initial consultations and payment plans. Contact me today.
